I am late to the autumnal nail shade party this year.. but here we are! CND have absolutly smashed it with this collection. All the colours in the CND Upcycle Chic Collection are interesting and different. If you are in the UK or Ireland and you are ready to purchase this collection, you can get your hands on it from CND’s offical UK distributor, Sweet Squared.
CND’s 2023 Fall color collection, Upcycle Chic in CND Shellac, and Upcycle Chic in CND Vinylux.

Fall 2023 arrived with a colour palette that feels ‘just right’. The soft mossy creamy greens and pastel-grey blues are on trend and everywhere in fabrics, accessories and interior decor. Deep chocolate coffee browns and warm oranges are always welcome as the temperature drops. CND have as always, carefully chosen shades for us to delight, inspire, and meet the seasonal expectations of our clients.

I love to get my hands on a new collection and explore where the shades falls within our current range. As Nail Artists, we have science based colour theory running in our blood, and if you are anything like me, you’ll know that visual colour comparisons satisfyingly scratch an itch that starts as soon as a new collection is announced.

Silky Sienna + Needles & Red – available in CND Shellac & Vinylux

CND Shellac color comparisons by Fee Wallace. Oranges and reds

Silky Sienna is a sandy, terracotta touched, pumpkin orange. I’ve been using it in Halloween Nail Designs and as a really flattering touch to the manicures of my warm skin toned clients.

Needles & Red is a cool alternative deep red, the addition of tiny black gloss sparkles gives this shade dimension and a gothic-glam twist. Don’t be put off when you first try it.. the little sparkles do make this shade feel different to apply. Just make sure your edges are smooth and trust you will have flawless smoothness once top coat is applied and cured. For CND Shellac shades like this, I recommend choosing CND Shellac Original Top Coat or CND Shellac Duraforce Top Coat as both have a slightly thicker viscosity, allowing for an easy fix to tiny imperfections in the smoothness of the cured colour coat surface.

Rags to Stitches & Leather Goods – available in CND Shellac & Vinylux

Rags to Stitches is a super opaque, sage green cream, embellished with the most beautiful subtly golden shimmer. This shade is a real personal fav of mine and I know I’ll be using it on my nail clients not just for fall and into winter, but for evermore!

Leather Goods has been by far the most popular shade from this collection, here in the UK at least. I was pleasantly surprised to see just how many of my own clients picked this out for themselves as soon as they laid eyes on the CND Upcycle Chic Collection. My clients with soft almond shaped nails look like they have ten little coffee beans buffed to a high gloss.. so cute and refined.

Teal Textile & What’s Old is Blue Again – available in CND Shellac & Vinylux

Teal Textile is a beautiful, watery, shimmering delight. It’s similar to Rags to Stitches in terms of texture; luxurious opaque cream with a gentle metallic shimmer, but here the base is a soft, light grey-blue, and the shimmer is a frosty teal/turquoise. It’s a stunning combination.

What’s Old is Blue Again is a bold blue landing smack between Teal Time and Boats & Bikinis, which is a lovely place to be if you ask me. A gorgeous ‘something blue’ for an autumn bride, or great fun on toes for the clients jetting off to grab a bit of end of the year sun.
